We Just Locked the Doors on Our Old Life — And Walked Into the Wilderness on Purpose

Maybe you’re not moving buildings. But you know this feeling.

The job that’s ending. The relationship that’s shifting. The season that’s closing, and the new thing hasn’t fully arrived yet. You’re standing in the in-between, and it’s uncomfortable, and nobody prepared you for how long “in-between” can feel.

This past Sunday at Awaken Church was our last Sunday in the building we’ve called home for years. Today I signed the final paperwork. I sat with my family in the worship center one more time and thought about everything that happened inside those walls… every prayer that got heard, every life that got changed, every hard decision. None of that stops mattering just because we’ve left.

But it’s not our home anymore. Not because it stopped being sacred, but because we said yes, a while back, to something bigger.

Back in November 2023, we told our board the truth: something had to change. We even admitted we weren’t sure we were the ones to lead it there. And they said, it’s you, and we’ll walk with you. And they have, every step since.

Now we’re headed to a new building. It should be ready by September. Until then, we’re in a high school auditorium this summer. Temporary. Not glamorous. Not the destination.

But here’s the thing about the in-between… it’s not a delay. It’s the crossing!!!

In Joshua 3 and 4, Israel didn’t get a bridge over the Jordan. They had to walk into the riverbed, water still moving, trusting God to hold it back long enough for every person to get across. Not just the strong ones. Everyone. Together, or nobody.

So wherever you’re at right now… job, marriage, health, faith, whatever… you’re not stuck!!! You’re crossing!!! And you don’t have to do it alone!!!
