I’m sitting at the airport scrolling through my notes app.
You know the place.
Random thoughts. Half-sermons. Quotes you typed quickly because something hit you and you didn’t want to forget it.
Your notes app is basically a time capsule.
You scroll back far enough and you start seeing the journey… what God was showing you, what you were wrestling with, what truths you refused to let go of.
Today I ran across five that still preach.
So I figured I’d move them from my phone to the blog.
“The gospel is risky—freeing people from the trappings of control—but it’s the only message with LIFE and FREEDOM.”
Religion loves control.
Grace produces free people.
And freedom always makes religious systems nervous.
But it’s the only message that actually produces life.
“Believer: Realize that you are who you are because of who Christ is.”
You’re not who you are because you tried harder.
You’re not who you are because you finally got it right.
You are who you are because of Jesus.
Everything starts there.
“Throw out any and all imaginations, ideas and opinions that make the finished work of Christ look unfinished.”
Jesus didn’t say “almost finished.”
He said “It is finished.”
If a message makes the cross sound unfinished…
It’s not the gospel.
“Don’t be afraid to be radical when it comes to declaring just how good the good news really is.”
The gospel isn’t just good news.
It’s shockingly good news.
So don’t whisper it.
Don’t soften it.
And don’t apologize for it.
“Christ has paid for you to be free. Go ahead… BE FREE!”
Jesus didn’t die so you could spend your life trying to earn what He already finished.
The price has been paid.
Stop negotiating with chains.
Go ahead. Be free.
Funny what you find in your notes app.
Sometimes it’s random.
Sometimes it’s revelation.
But sometimes it’s just a reminder of the road God has walked you down.
And every now and then… those notes still preach!!!
